About Me
As a current junior in aerospace engineering at NC State, I am passionate about preparing myself for an impactful career in the private space industry. Accordingly, I continuously pursue work opportunities, academic/personal projects, and mentors that may help me further establish myself as a productive engineer.
I am excited by the technical advancements, universal knowledge, and opportunity for exploration that private space companies promise and believe that my emphasis on gaining firsthand experience an undergraduate has provided important skills which will make me a successful aerospace engineer. My past engineering experience includes:
- Supporting SpaceX’s production of Falcon 9 subassemblies through tooling design, manufacturing planning, and qualification testing (Summer 2019)
- Experimentally investigating shockwave boundary layer interactions and scramjet/ramjet inlet unstart physics in NCSU’s Supersonic Wind Tunnel using pressure sensitive paint, pressure transducers, and flow visualization techniques (Summer 2018 – Present)
- Collaborating with a small, fast-paced team to build, maintain, and document electronic error prevention devices that reduce BMW’s assembly costs by minimizing defects and vehicle rework time (Fall/Spring 2018)
- Individually developing a data-logging flight computer prototype built around an Arduino Uno, pressure sensor, and SD card reader which measures pressure, calculates relative altitude and velocity, and writes data to a SD card (Summer/Fall 2018)
Looking forward throughout the remainder of my undergraduate career, I intend to continue my research in NCSU’s Supersonic Wind Tunnel and hopefully have my work published in a journal paper in early 2020. Following the completion of my junior year, I plan on returning to SpaceX for Summer 2020.
